IGW - About us
We are a privately owned business that has operated in the Bolton area for over 25 years. In that time we have developed a reputation for high quality motor vehicles with a strong regard for competitive pricing. Along the way we have gained tremendous experience of all types and makes of car and have held franchises in HYUNDAI, SUZUKI, MITSUBISHI, SAAB, SUBARU and ISUZU, until we decided to take an independent route specializing in RANGE ROVER, LANDROVER, BMW, MITSUBISHI, TOYOTA and other high quality 4X4 and PRESTIGE marques.
We are not committed to any manufacturer or tied in to any financial company that may sway us to try and direct you down a line that isn't always in your best interest. Our independence means we only have one aim and that is to provide you, our customer with top quality vehicles at the very best possible price.
In order to deliver our promise of high quality and competitive pricing, our buyers scour the country to find vehicles that meet our and your, quite rightly, demanding standards. WE ONLY BUY CARS THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO OWN OURSELVES.
Our direction has also turned towards the IMPORT market and in particular to EUROPE for New cars and JAPAN for Used car imports. This has given us access to a massive choice of vehicles with very high specifications, low mileage and excellent condition.
IMPORTS
These are normally categorized into two areas PARALLEL and GREY imports which can be defined as follows:-
PARALLEL
Parallel imports are normally new unregistered vehicles which are registered for the first time in this country and would usually come via Europe. They come with a C.O.C (Certificate of Conformity) which confirms that the car has the standard specifications fitted for the European market which may be the same or the majority of the same specifications as the officially imported UK car (sometimes the official importer may add or omit certain items to suit local requirements).
The vehicles would also normally carry the full manufacturer warranty for upto 3 years which we would confirm prior to making your order.
GREY
Grey imports are pre-owned cars brought into this country normally from outside the EEC most frequently from Japan. We find these cars to be of a higher standard than your average used UK vehicle. They usually have low mileage, higher specification and are in excellent condition both bodily and mechanically. Extra features abound with lots of stainless steel and chrome, bull bars, climate control (you're lucky to have air con on UK cars), sunroofs and electronic bits.
All our Pajeros, Prados and Bighorns etc. are sourced directly from Japan and therefore we can control the quality of vehicles supplied to us. We also buy in bulk which in turn helps us to pass on savings to you. WE DON'T BUY AT THE DOCKS!
All our vehicles go through a stringent series of checks and tests before they reach the customer. Firstly, through our workshop, where they are given our '1.5 Hour Check', a Full Service and prepared to UK standards. They then go to the Vehicle Inspectorate for an SVA ( Single Vehicle Approval)Test to ensure their safety and that they conform to our emission regulations. After this they have an MOT Test just like any UK car over 3 years old.
IMPORT MYTHS AND LEGENDS
There seems to be many a tale about imports and everyone has their own story that they've heard from someone else, who heard their story from their brother, who heard his story from a bloke at work. We can understand why there is so much confusion surrounding the purchasing of imports. So listed below are a few of the more regularly asked questions/statements and we've tried to give you an explanation for each.
You can't get parts can you? Well there is a little bit of truth in this, as if you purchase a very unusual car which is never normally brought into this country there will be no existing network to supply those particular parts. However most of the major imported vehicles such as Pajeros, have a UK equivalent car in this case the Shogun. All of the major component parts are shared and there is such a volume of Pajeros on the market that Mitsubishi dealers are more than happy to stock and supply any part you require. How do you think the main dealers achieve their parts targets?
Insurance quotes are higher on imports aren't they? The answer to this is NO. Just like whenever you change your car or renew your insurance it pays to SHOP AROUND. Your current insurer may not deal with or have a flexible enough system to deal with imports, however many of the well known insurance companies have no problem with imports and will quote you no more than the equivalent UK car. For more detail and a full list of Insurance Companies please contact us.
There are a lot of stolen imports about. You will always hear stories like this as bad news is always more interesting than good news. However we do take this issue seriously and therefore we try to have some control over the supply of our vehicles. This is why we only buy direct from Japan or Europe from suppliers we know and with whom we have built up a trusting and professional relationship. We don't buy at UK auctions or through any third party countries.
Also the DVLA take this issue seriously as well and with experience they are making the registration of vehicles tighter and tighter. This includes registered keepers needing to supply forms of identity before registration and also a worldwide stolen vehicle check.

WARRANTIES
All our cars are supplied as standard with a three month parts and labour warranty. (Full written details available on request)
This can be extended at very competitive prices for one, two or even three years for those who prefer.
FINANCE
We have a range of finance packages available which we tailor to your individual requirements. Also we are totally independent from any particular Finance Company and therefore we will always look for the best deal for the customer and not just for ourselves. We have a choice of several Finance Companies and we compare rates and service provided by these companies to offer very favorable terms in what is a very competitive market.
At IGW we try to keep your best interests in mind and we would always encourage you to shop around or carefully consider any finance deal prior to making your decision. Many car dealers are heavily targeted towards finance and 'Tie Ins' to one finance company and may sometimes push you towards a deal which may not be best for you in the future.
When discussing finance we will offer you the alternatives, be it normal Hire Purchase or a range of packages which may be referred to as PCP'S (Personal Contract Plans), Lease Plans, Balloon Payments and Contract Hire deals. Therefore we would help you to consider the deal that suits you most with an independent opinion.
FOR FULL DETAILS ABOUT ANY OF THE ABOVE ISSUES, PLEASE COME IN AND VISIT US, WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SEE YOU AND LOOK FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO SUPPLY YOUR VEHICLES IN THE FUTURE.
THE COST OF RFL AND HOW IT AFFECTS YOU.
As usual the press seem to have got hold of the wrong end of the stick concerning the latest increase in Road Fund Licence. So, we thought we had better try and clarify what changes have really taken place and how they will affect you.
1. For cars registered prior to 01 March 2001 the maximum price is now £185 an increase of just £5.
2. For cars registered between 01 March 2001 and 23 March 2006 the maximum price is now £210 an increase of £5.
3. The biggest change is for those band G cars registered after 23 March 2006 which is now £400 an increase of £100 and will only affect nearly new or new cars.
However this isn't the whole picture as the charges are based on the emissions of vehicles and as engines have become cleaner and more efficient even some so called 'Gas Guzzlers' fall below the G band. For a full listing please refer to www.direct.gov.uk.
Therefore the £1000 headline shown in the press is misleading as it's not due to take place till 2010. Even then it is only for first registration and reverts to £455 on a yearly basis after that, full details at www.autotrader.co.uk.
